The day after the service, Take a Chef pays the corresponding amount to the chef.

Who can be a chef?

The only condition is that you must be a professional chef. Any person that has prior experience or training as a chef can offer their services through Take a Chef. The objective of the website is to offer a wide variety of chef profiles so that the client can find the right menu and profile for every occasion.

Do I need to pay in order to use Take a Chef?

No. Take a Chef is a platform that allows you to sign up and offer your services as a private chef free of charge. Take a Chef only earns 15% of the total amount of each booking.

What is the process I should follow to receive requests through Take a Chef?

To receive service requests from customers it is essential to have a complete chef profile. Once validated by the Take a Chef team, you will begin to receive service requests in your e-mail. By responding to the request with your menu suggestion, the client will be able to reserve your services by paying the full cost of the service. After the service, Take a Chef will pay the chef's share by bank transfer or PayPal.

How much time do I have to answer or reject a customer request?

We recommend you to answer as quickly as possible because the client receives various proposals from chefs in a few hours. As soon as the client finds the profile that they like, they can reserve the service, The platform prioritises the chefs with a faster response time.

How much do I charge for my services?

The price is always set by the chef. Take a Chef is a platform through which chefs can obtain new clients, however every chef is free to determine the value of their services and charge accordingly.

What must be included in the price of the menu?

The total price should include:

  • Menu design
  • Purchase of raw materials
  • Preparation of the dishes in the client's house (There is the possibility of elaborating a mise en place for the menus that require longer preparation time).
  • Service
  • Cleaning up

If the client wants any additional service (drinks, additional waitors or cutlery...) that would be charged on the side adding to the total charge.

How can I establish communication with my client?

All communication prior to service will happen through the website. This way, the chef and the client will have a record of the messages that can be looked back at, incase there are any incidents. Once the reservation is set, the chef and the client will exchange information so they can finalise the offer. However, we recommend that you keep using the website to message, so that there is a record of every conversation incase of any inconvenience or misunderstanding.

Why can't I call or send an email before the reservation is made?

We require all contact between chefs and clients to be through the website before the reservation is made so that we can maintain your privacy, offer customer services and adhere to the terms and conditions of Take a Chef. Once the customer has made a reservation, the contact information will be available to both the chef and the client. To allow them to finalise the last details in a timely manner. We recommend that you keep using the website to message, so that there is a record of every conversation incase of any inconvenience or misunderstanding.

How do customer ratings work?

Customer ratings are a key part of Take a Chef. After every service the client receives a feedback form by email to evaluate the service that the chef provided. The feedback includes questions regarding the quality of the food, explanation of the dishes, cleaning of the utensils and kitchen as well as the overall service. How can I hire a chef through Take a Chef?

From the homepage of the website, click on the Begin button and personalize the characteristics of the event- date, location, preferences and allergies, etc… Once you have submitted your request, various chefs from your city will send you menus that fit what you are looking for. Then, you can get in touch with the chefs through the website to request or suggest changes in their proposals. When you have chosen a menu you like, you can reserve it.

Once you have confirmed the reservation, we will exchange your contact information with the chef’s so you can stay in touch. We will hold the payment to the chef until the day after the service, in order to guarantee that there are no incidents or inconveniences in the last second.

How do I choose a chef?

What happens if the chef cancels the service?

How does the customer review section work?

Customer reviews are a key aspect for Take a Chef since they allow us to obtain objective information, from the customers, about the chef. At the same time, they help future customers to choose the chef most suitably equipped for their event.The day after the event, the customer will receive a feedback survey, to evaluate the chef. They will be able to express their opinion and experience during the service.

Cancellation Policy

All cancellations must be made in writing to both the other party (through the website’s messaging and email) and to Take a Chef by sending an email to info@takeachef.com

a) Cancellation policy for clients.

When the client cancels a reservation they can ask for a coupon with no expiration date to make a new reservation for the following amount:

  • Reservation cancelled up to 72 hours before the time of the booking: the total booking value will be refunded.
  • Reservation cancelled between 24 and 72 hours before the time of the booking: 50% of the total booking value will be refunded.
  • Reservation cancelled less than 24 hours before the time of the booking: No money will be refunded.

*Take a Chef will provide a coupon with no expiration date for the amount set according to the case. Keep in mind that the bank management expenses (3% of the total value) will not be returned if the client cancels the reservation.

Refunds may take between 3 to 5 business days to process after the date of cancellation. The same conditions apply for the gift packs (experience, temptation, and exclusive) offered in the “gift a dining experience” tab. b) Cancellation policy for chefs

As a Take a Chef cook, it is very important to fulfill your commitments with clients who decided to reserve your menu. We strongly advise against cancelling any reservations previously accepted since they can cause a great inconvenience to the guests, as well as affecting the credibility of our website.

If you have no choice but to cancel a reservation, you should be aware that you may incur the following penalties:

  • Your positioning in search results when receiving service requests will be adversely affected.
  • There will be a 20% penalty on the next booking.

What happens if my client cancels the reservation?

If a client cancels a confirmed reservation, you will be informed and, as a chef, you will be entitled to receive one of the following compensations:

  • Reservation canceled up to 72 hours before the time of booking: The chef is not entitled to compensation.
  • Booking canceled between 24 and 72 hours before booking: The chef will be paid 50% of the total amount received.
  • Reservation cancelled in the last 24 hours before the service: The chef is entitled to 100% of the amount that was agreed.
